Zdeňka Klanicová
Captures emotions and messages in the wind. Impressions of the moment. Leaning towards impressionism.
A painter, sculptor, and experimenter with energy and space. She works with traditional techniques such as oil painting, acrylic, pastel, and printmaking. She also creates 3D sculptures from wire, ceramics, and sandstone. In favorable weather, she builds outdoor installations from natural materials—such as sculptures made of branches, grass, and hay.
She first trained as a potter under academic sculptor Jiří Kemr in Kunštát, Moravia. She then studied art technology and history at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Prague. She completed her education in the sculpture studio of Professor Vladimír Preclík at FaVU VUT in Brno.
Since the 1980s, she has actively exhibited in galleries across the Czech Republic. Her paintings can also be found in private collections in Austria, Germany, and Japan. She participated in the Porta Culturae project and is a member of the art group Žeň žen. She helped establish the art centers Skleněná louka, Zadní trakt, and Spodní trakt. Together with set designer Kateřina Bláhová, she designs scenes for the Divadlo na provázku and HaDivadlo theatres.
Throughout her life, she has been interested in nature—plants, animals, and their energy. She creates in her studio in Brno, located in the middle of a garden. Therefore, in her paintings, you will find majestic animals with hypnotic gazes, as well as natural landscapes and abstract motifs.
The paintings of Zdeňka Klanicová have the potential to be energetic radiators, which is why they are also used for meditation or space harmonization.

To capture the story, the atmosphere of
what is beneath the bark, beneath the skin, between the lines
or it can be felt in the air.
That imperceptible, delicate tremor in the summer breeze.
